12 Facts You Should Know about Traffic School in California

  1. In general, you cannot take web traffic school more than once every 18 months.
  2. You must work with the California court in the county where you received your traffic ticket, not necessarily the court in the county where you live.
  3. Your eligibility to take traffic school will be determined by the court in the county in which you received your speeding ticket.
  4. The county court in which you received your ticket will send you court papers two to three weeks after you receive your speeding ticket. The papers will list your options, your fines or fees, and whether you are eligible to take traffic violators school.
  5. Some California county courts do not allow online traffic schools. See your court papers for a list of traffic schools approved with the court.
  6. The court papers will also list your due date for getting your traffic school certificate of completion to the court. Do not miss this deadline.
  7.  Recommended: Complete your online traffic school course at least seven business days before you court due date. That should give you time to get your certificate of completion to the court.
  8. Some California courts require you to mail your original certificate of completion to them directly (no copies). For other California courts we will send your certificate of completion on your behalf. Which method depends upon the court in the county in which you received your ticket.
